DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GROUP SKATING & PRIVATE LESSONS
The main difference between group ice skating classes and private lessons comes down to the learning environment, level of individual attention, cost, and pace of learning. Below is a breakdown of the key differences
GROUP SKATING
-
Social and fun - learning alongside others can be encouraging and help build friendships
-
Lower cost - More affordable because the cost is split amongst the students
-
Structured curriculum - Classes follow a set progression, often based on a standardized system
-
Less individual attention - Instructors divide their time amongst the students so there is limited personalized feedback
-
Good for beginners and recreational skaters - Ideal for people who want a fun low stakes environment and to build basic skills
PRIVATE LESSONS
-
One on One instruction: Skaters get the coach's undivided attention which leads to faster improvement
-
Personalized Training: Lessons are tailored to the goals of the skater
-
Flexible scheduling: Rather than having a set class schedule you are able to book times that work for your schedule
-
Higher cost: Since you're paying for exclusive one on one time with a private coach, private lessons are more expensive
-
Best for competitive or serious skaters: Essential for skaters who want to advance quickly or compete
