COACHING POLICY

Purpose:
This policy is designed to ensure that all professional figure skating coaches conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the highest standards of professionalism, respect, and integrity. Adherence to these guidelines will foster a positive and supportive environment for all skaters, parents, and volunteers.

Compliance Requirements:
Coaches must be compliant with either ISI (Ice Skating Institute) or listed on the U.S. Figure Skating’s Coach Compliance list.

Preparation and Conduct:

Preparation: Coaches are expected to come prepared for all lessons and practices, including having all necessary equipment.

Professionalism: All classes and coaching interactions should be conducted in a professional manner, maintaining a focus on the skater’s development and well-being.

Attire: Coaches are expected to dress in a professional and athletic manner.

Relationships and Conduct:

Professional Boundaries: Maintain all relationships with skaters, parents, and volunteers strictly professional. Avoid any behavior that could be perceived as favoritism or personal involvement.

Conflict of Interest: Avoid any activities or decisions that could lead to conflicts of interest. Always prioritize the skater’s best interests and welfare.

Respect for Colleagues: Support and respect other coaches, their philosophies, and their disciplinary procedures. Treat all skaters fairly and equitably.

Skating Etiquette and Behavior:

Skating Procedures: Discuss and reinforce proper skating procedures and behavior with each skater to ensure a respectful and safe training environment.

Addressing Etiquette Issues: If inappropriate skating etiquette is observed:

The Pro coach of the skater involved and the Pro coach who observed the behavior should meet off ice to discuss and resolve the issue.

If the skater’s Pro coach is not present, address the issue directly with the skater and notify the skater’s Pro coach as soon as possible.

Coaching and Recruitment:

Skater Transfers: Understand that all skaters and parents have the right to switch coaches at any time and for any reason. No one - current or former coaches, parents, or skaters - should criticize or challenge this decision.

Recruitment: Be honest and open when recruiting skaters for private lessons. Solicitation should be conducted in a mature, professional manner. It is acceptable to promote oneself positively but unacceptable to speak negatively about other coaches.

Confidentiality and Respect:

Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the skater/coach relationship. Discussions about skaters should not occur with other coaches, parents, skaters, or volunteers.

Professional Conduct: Avoid making any derogatory remarks about skaters, coaches, volunteers, board members, or staff members. All interactions should be characterized by respect and professionalism.

By adhering to these policies, coaches will contribute to a supportive and professional environment that benefits all participants in the figure skating community.
GUEST COACH POLICY

Purpose:
This policy outlines the procedures and requirements for guest coaches wishing to instruct at TriValley Ice. As a private facility, TriValley Ice reserves the right to approve or deny any guest coach based on these guidelines.

Approval and Compliance:

Compliance Requirements: Guest coaches must be compliant with either ISI (Ice Skating Institute) or listed on the U.S. Figure Skating’s Coach Compliance list.

Required Documentation: To be considered, guest coaches must submit an email request that includes:

Current ISI or U.S. Figure Skating membership verification.

Proof of current liability insurance.

Procedures and Restrictions:

Arrival: Guest coaches must notify the skating director, Jennifer Klinger, prior to their arrival. jenniferk@trivalleyice.com

Invitation Policy: Guest coaches are not permitted to bring or invite another coach to serve as a guest coach during their visit.

Guest Coaching Fee: Upon approval, guest coaches will be required to pay a guest coaching fee of $60 per day.

Policy Adherence: Guest coaches must adhere to all policies and rules expected of professional coaches at TriValley Ice. This includes following all rink procedures and maintaining the standards of conduct required for all coaching staff.

Compliance and Termination:

Policy Adherence: TriValley Ice reserves the right to suspend or terminate guest coach privileges at any time if there is failure to comply with rink policies and procedures.
